The Suburbs...It's Not So Quite

First of all Happy Valentine's Day to everyone! Hearts everywhere it's so cute!

In the past 2+ months since I've been on maternity leave, I've noticed more and more that the suburbs is extremely noisy in the day. I've always known that, but I've noticed it more now because I'm actually at home almost everyday. That, and I haven't been getting much sleep since Baby N's birth. There's always birds chirping or gurgling, someone mowing their lawn or someone hired to work on the landscaping, the garbage truck, a motorcycle zooming by, a door slamming, a car alarm going off or a neighbor blasting their radio. It's actually really annoying! I wish I could silence all of this out while I'm sleeping, but I can't. And this is coming from someone who grew up right next to a major airport...and that didn't bother me at all! I think I just needed to vent because I'm so tired.

Cashmere Mafia

Did anyone watch Cashmere Mafia last night? I've been looking forward to that show ever since I saw the preview over a month ago. It's reminiscent of Sex & The City, just with less sex. I enjoyed the first episode very much because I can totally relate to them! I hope it doesn't get canceled. Shows I tend to love always get canceled. boo!

New Year's Goal

I gained a little over 50 lbs during the pregnancy and lost about 15 lbs already since the baby's birth. That was actually more than I expected since he was so tiny. My goal for the new year is to lose the remaining 35 lbs.

My OB said that I needed to take it easy for 6 weeks, so that means no lifting, no strenuous exercises, etc. I still have a few more weeks of being inactive, but I'm really looking forward to getting back to my old weight. G knew my goal, so for Christmas he got me an ipod nano, the matching arm band and a pair of Nike shoes with the ipod sports kit that you insert into your shoes to measure your total running distance. I can't wait to use it!

I've been on maternity leave now for almost 3 weeks and I really haven't left the house since we got home from the hospital, with the exception of baby N's doctor's appointments. We've had visitors almost every day, but I really haven't had the energy to primp and leave the house. I can barely walk, although I am moving a bit faster these days. That, and we don't want to take the baby out for the first month unless we absolutely have to. I did get out of the house for a little while on Christmas Eve because G said it would be good for me to get some fresh air. I went out for about an hour to pick up some more nursing bras and lunch. It did feel good to get out.

Today, I had some time to repaint my toenails. I had a pedicure back on December 1st (pre birth), so you can imagine how bad my toes were starting to look. I'm actually leaving the house tomorrow for baby N's 3rd doctor's appointment and my first OB follow up appointment since the birth. It's in the morning, so it'll definitely be a challenge getting up so early and then getting ready to leave. With the late night feedings and changings, I've been making up for my lack up sleep after his 700am - 800am feedings.

Did I already mention how helpful G has been? He's been doing most of the diaper changes while I feed him. We work so well together and we both love being around the baby regardless of how much work it is.

Hope Santa brought you what you wished for. G got me a lot of cool gifts this year including an iPod nano, but the best one of all is definitely BABY N! Funny, I've bought ipods for other people before but I've never gotten one for myself.

My sweetie was born on 12/12/07!!! Welcome baby N into this world. He looks like a small Mr. Magoo. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!

It's been a week now and I already miss how small he was when he was born. Okay, okay, he's still small, but I feel like going back in time already. I'm lame!

A Mellow Birthday

Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday!

It was pretty mellow. G didn't want to plan anything extravagant because it was just days before baby N's due date. BTW, he's still not born yet.

G got me a few great gift, but this was my favorite. It's a custom made motherhood necklace with my birthstone, his birthstone and baby N's birthstone. I also got some techy gadgets to use when I'm on maternity leave. I love techy gadgets.

We also went to my co-worker's son's 3rd birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. I was pretty tired afterwards so we headed back home afterwards where G got me a mini cake so I could blow out the candle and make a wish. Yeah, it was a pretty low key day.

Here's a picture of the fan I bought over a year ago because I didn't like the fan that came with the house. G and his friend T helped me put it up in the kitchen last weekend. It matched much better and it's definitely more along the lines of my taste (modern).

Happy Birthday to chameleonspell! Although it's still the 8th here in Hawaii, it's the 9th in CA! Hope you have a wonderful day.

Prior to today, I always wondered if Baby N was going to arrive before or after my 34th birthday. Unless he decides to pop out in about an hour and 15 minutes, it looks like he's going to be born after I turn 34.

Happy Turkey Day & Happy Bird Day

Happy Birthday to my bestest friend D! I'll be picking him up in a few hours at the airport.

G is making turkey will all the fixin's today. His mom, brother and a few of our friends are coming over. I woke up at 6am (because baby N keeps moving around in my belly) and G woke at at 7am to start preparing.

Things I am grateful for this year:

*all of my family and friends

*good health

*that i'm finally going to be taking a break from work. i'm on maternity leave as of 12/7, unless the baby decides to enter the world early
